Radio drama Final Test SAMPLE
Team 1 topic Too many Cars Team 2 Too much garbage
John Sally Mable Tom
(John and Sally have just seen a good movie)
J: Wow! What a great movie! Did you enjoy it?
S: Well it sure had a lot of action and not too much romance.
J: That's true. Let's go somewhere quieter.
S: Yeah! The traffic noise is just too much sometimes.
J: That is a constant problem. There are just too many cars.
S: That's for sure. Hey, there's Tom and Mable. Let's see if they will join
us for coffee.
J: Ok. Mable! Tom!
T: John! Sally! Were you at the theatre?
S: Yeah! We saw Tomcat and the Sizzling Wok, an action movie.
M: Ahhh! We went to the romantic one. But it was kind of boring.
J: We were just going for coffee. Would you like to join us?
T: I understand. There has to be a solution. Why not electric cars.
J: Well that is a great solution. The problem is that there is no place to
plug it in.
M: True but they could increase the number of busses.
S: That would help me a lot. But wouldn't that just create more pollution?
T: Not really. They could make oil out of our garbage.
S: Really! They can do that?
J: Yes! It was on TV. On yesterday's news. An we can make bio fuels as
well.
T: But that makes our food more expensive, because farmers would only plant for fuel not food.
M: Imagine a world without cars.
S: Did John tell you about his almost accident?
M: No! What happened?
J: it was kind of funny actually. I was….
T: Speeding like you do all the time.
J: No! Not this time. I was driving along and a bag of garbage….
M: Opened up and swallowed the car.
J: No! It was on the road and I tried to avoid it. It was really tough. There were too many cars and there was too much garbage. I hit the garbage and finally stopped.
M: Was there any damage to the car?
J: no! Nothing serious, but it was scary.
T: I almost had an accident too. I was….
M: Tell it the way it really happened.
T: Well….
S: We were thinking about Christmas. What are you two doing for
Christmas?
M: Well… I was hoping to have my dream vacation before my life gets too complicated.
J: What's your dream vacation?
S: For my dream vacation I want to go to Finland. They have an ice
hotel.
M: Really?
T: I heard you rented clothes there.
S: Well, this is how my reservation went.
(reservation conversation)
RRRRRRRing…..
HM: Good morning, Ice Castle Hotel how may I help you?
S: Well, I am interested in how much is it for a room?
HM: A small room is 100 dollars per night. Would you like one/
S: Are the walls clear like a real ice cube?
HM: Almost! We put a special paint on them so the room is very private.
S: What about the showers? Do you have hot water there?
HM: Yes of course. We have a spa for you, but it is not in the suite. Each room also has a cold space for your drinks, etc.
S: Wow! What a dream!
HM: Yes! People that stay here are changed forever.
T: Sounds like a great idea and Christmas vacation is cold up there.
M: Well my dream vacation is maybe not so exotic.
J: Tell us please… they are so interesting.
S: I need a refill on the coffee. Anybody else?
T: (looking in his wallet) Look what I have here! An old picture. Guess
who it is?
J: I should know that person. The one in the baggy pants and fat face.
M: You know that person?
J: Yes! But I forget where.
S: Thinking about old memories and vacations I remember one special
vacation my family went on.
T: I think you forgot John.
M: Where did you go Sally?
This is 3 pages of a radio drama. It has all the ideas of the two teams and the 4 (four) homework pages you did. To make it longer ask more questions in each homework idea. It can easily be made into 10 pages.
I hope to have an MP3 file so you can discover what the final test should be like.
